The Chicago Fire first team traded in their usual training gear in favor of work gloves and hard hats Wednesday, as the club spent a day in the community alongside partners from Valspar Paint and the Chicago branch of Habitat for Humanity.
Close to 100 strong in numbers, Chicago Fire players, coaches and front office staff contributed to the ongoing development of Habitat for Humanity Chicago's major build site in the West Pullman neighborhood. Volunteers worked to apply and paint siding, build fences and install flooring for three homes currently under construction, while other groups spent the day clearing and beautifying nearby lots that will serve as the site of future builds on the block.
