It was reported back in May that the Chicago Fire were preparing to break their lease on SeatGeek Stadium, with an eye toward moving back to Soldier Field for the 2020 MLS season.
At least part of that report is now official.
The club announced this morning that they had reached an agreement in principle with the Village of Bridgeview to amend their lease on the stadium. As part of the agreement, the Fire will pay the Village $60.5 million over the remaining term of the lease, including an upfront payment of $10 million.
