Chicago Red Stars fans don’t have to wait much longer to see their team play.
The NWSL announced today the 2021 Challenge Cup will begin April 9, and will be played in home markets this time around, rather than a “bubble” with all teams in the same location. Players will report to training camp Feb. 1.
Following the Challenge Cup, teams will take part in a 24-game regular season beginning May 15, 2021. The regular season will conclude Oct. 30, and the expanded, six-team playoffs will begin Nov. 6, with the top two seeds receiving a first-round bye.
