Chicago Fire strikers Nemanja Nikolic and Luis Solignac were selected for MLS’s Team of the Week for their performances in a 3-0 victory against New England on Saturday. The Fire have now had six different players earn the honors in just five weeks.
Nikolic, who joined from Legia Warsaw before the Fire’s preaseason began, bagged two goals in the second half, bringing him to a total of 4 goals on the season. Solignac, who earned a starting role in Saturday’s match, did not disappoint Veljko Paunovic with his play on the wing. The Argentine assisted on Bastian Schweinsteiger’s 45th minute goal, and was influential in Nikolic’s 47th minute finish.
