The news was dropped near the end of an interview with Fire GM Nelson Rodriguez, published by Daily Herald Fire beat reporter Orrin Schwarz.
The 23-year-old has spent most of this season— his second since going pro— on loan with the Tulsa Roughnecks, Chicago’s USL affiliate. He’s scored 5 goals so far for the Roughnecks and has been a key member of the squad.
His performances have impressed Fire brass enough that they feel confident bringing him back to Illinois. While he’s almost certainly being brought back to provide depth rather than quality, Calistri will add some crucial backup ahead of the second half of the season and, conceivably, a push for some silverware.
