A few days before the start of training camp, the Toronto Raptors signed Andy Rautins to a training camp contract. Summer contracts happen all the time, and Rautins — a former Canadian national team player and the son of Sportsnet analyst Leo Rautins — was a fun name to add to the mix.
He also brought the training camp roster to 20, meaning the Raptors had likely closed the door on adding a veteran at any late juncture. The roster being locked in meant the training camp landscape was set, and with only 13 guaranteed contracts plus a pair of two-way deals, the Raptors will have five players competing for two open roster spots over the next couple of weeks.
