Former Fire forward, head coach and Ring of Fire member Frank Klopas will be among those recognized by the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame during the 22nd annual induction ceremony at Wintrust Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 3. This year’s inductees include 10 outstanding individuals who make Chicago a world-class sports town.
A Chicago soccer icon, Klopas returned to his hometown in advance of the 1998 season and led the Fire to the double, helping the club to the 1998 MLS Cup in a 2-0 win over D.C. United before scoring the golden goal days later in a 2-1 extra time victory over the Columbus Crew in the U.
