Fire U-12s Compete at LaLiga Promises Tournament in Miami

Joining a collection of youth squads from top professional clubs around the world, the Chicago Fire Academy finished play at the U-12 LaLiga Promises International Soccer Tournament with one win and two defeats Monday in Miami.

The Fire began group play with a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Valencia (Spain) before falling by a 3-1 scoreline to Sevilla (Spain). The squad concluded group play with an emphatic 5-0 victory against Mexican side Club América, but the three points were not enough to lift the Fire into the knockout stages.

Part of the LFP World Challenge, the tournament featured the youth programs from seven Spanish clubs (Real Madrid CF, Club Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC, RC Celta de Vigo, FC Barcelona, Villarreal CF y Valencia CF), three European clubs (Borussia Dortmund, Juventus FC and Crystal Palace FC) and an additional seven from around the globe: Aspire Academy (QAT), Sagan Tosu (JAP), Chicago Fire (USA), CF América (MEX), Club Estudiantes (ARG), Orlando City SC (USA) and Weston FC (USA).
