Fire 1, Union 0: In wild weather, Paunović gets first MLS victory

In sports, some predictions are dead-on. But every so often, one gets transmuted into something else entirely.

In my match preview, I predicted that there could be fireworks between the Chicago Fire and Philadelphia Union at Toyota Park. Turns out there was a snowstorm instead.

The Fire battled to their first win of the 2016 season, 1-0, amid weather conditions that only members of the Night’s Watch would be comfortable with. Snow and swirling winds seemed to come and go amid peaceful rays of sunshine throughout a tense match. Brazilian right back Rodrigo Rámos decided to play in short sleeves and no gloves and 12,000 fans braved the madness.
