Chicago Fire Sign Midfielder Arturo Alvarez

CHICAGO (March 3, 2016) – The Chicago Fire announced Thursday that the club has signed midfielder Arturo Alvarez. A Salvadoran international, Alvarez has signed a one-year deal with a club option for 2017, and will be added to the roster upon receipt of his ITC.

"Arturo is a successful veteran of MLS who has important international experience,” said Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez. “His poise on the ball and his unselfish work rate complements our group."

At the age of 17, Alvarez signed a Project-40 contract and was selected in the first round (13th overall) of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes.
