Chicago Fire FC announced today the club has picked up the 2021 option on team captain and defender Francisco Calvo’s contract. The Costa Rican is now under contract through the 2021 season, with a club option for 2022.
“Francisco has been a very important leader in our locker room,” Fire Sporting Director Georg Heitz said in a statement. “He truly cares about his teammates and always represents this Club with a tremendous amount of pride. We look forward to having him return as a key part of our squad in 2021.”
Calvo joined the Fire in a trade with Minnesota United in May 2019.
