Chicago Fire goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm out for season—Bobby Shuttleworth takes over as starter

Chicago Fire starting goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm is out for the remainder of the 2020 MLS season with a torn ACL, head coach Raphael Wicky confirmed on Saturday.

Kronholm suffered the injury in training several days ago. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday, Wicky said.

In Kronholm’s absence, Wicky said he will turn to longtime MLS veteran Bobby Shuttleworth, 33, in net. From 2009-2019, Shuttleworth made 185 league appearances—181 of those as a starter—for the New England Revolution and Minnesota United. He spent the end of last season at USL Championship side Sacramento Republic.
