CHICAGO -- Wrigley Field was evacuated shortly after Sunday's Cubs win over the Giants because of a bomb threat.
The grounds crew was hurried off the field around 5:45 p.m. CT, and then security staff came up to the press box and asked the media to leave. Bomb-sniffing dogs checked the ballpark, and after a nearly one-hour wait, the grounds crew, stadium staff and media were allowed back in.
Cubs officials were not available for comment. A police officer at the ballpark confirmed the bomb threat, which came after the game had ended.
There was a heavy police presence outside the 100-year-old ballpark, which had hosted more than 39,000 fans for the finale of the Cubs' four-game series against the Giants.
