Who’s hitting first? Cubs batting order keeps on shuffling

Jason Heyward, a lifelong National League player, has hit in every spot in the batting order during his eight-year career — except for the ninth hole.

“I’ve hit ninth,” he said.

I meant “started in every batting spot.” My bad.

“I think I did,” he said. “I thought I did. Check Cleveland in 2015. I think I might’ve hit ninth.”

Could Baseball-Reference really be wrong?

As it turns out, Heyward’s memory was just a little off. As a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, he started hitting eighth in one game in Cleveland in 2015.
