ST. LOUIS — Get ready Wrigleyville, because the clinchin’ Cubs are coming home.
The Cubs’ 4-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night kept their magic number at three and meant the earliest they could clinch the NL Central and a playoff berth would be Thursday night at Wrigley Field. Milwaukee comes to town for a four-game series to kick off a 10-game homestand.
Home or away, the Cubs don’t seem too concerned about where they’re going to clinch the division, just that it’s going to happen one way or another. They have a 16-game lead over the Cardinals going into Wednesday’s series finale.
