Who is Jared Porter? The guy behind the guys

Since the moment he arrived in Chicago with Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer, the question has always been when Jason McLeod would leave.

He wasn’t the president or the general manager, but when Epstein introduced McLeod with this line back in Nov. 2011, it was clear he was very important to the Cubs’ makeover.

“Jason McLeod is the rarest commodity in the industry,” Epstein said. “He’s an impact evaluator of baseball talent.”

And now as the Minnesota Twins job beckons, McLeod could be on his way out and he’s not alone.

Assistant GM Shiraz Rehman has had his name mentioned for the Twins job as well and could be a strong candidate for other spots that may open up.
