Thirteen hours before Major League Baseball announced that it would suspend Spring Training, the NBA was still dealing with the first COVID-19 testing crisis among sports leagues in the United States.
Two months later, testing is still a major topic of consideration as MLB charts a path forward to start the season. Commissioner Rob Manfred said on CNN Thursday that players would be tested for COVID-19 multiples times a week. But the availability of test kits throughout the U.S. and the feasibility of frequent testing remain in question.
According to Manfred, if an MLB player tests positive for COVID-19, the league plans to quarantine him for two weeks and use contact tracing to determine who else would need to be tested immediately.
