Weather Forces Cardinals to Play Back-to-Back Doubleheaders, 11 Games in 9 Days

With their win Friday afternoon, the Cubs pulled to within a game of the Cardinals for the division lead. That’s where it remained throughout the evening, as inclement weather in St. Louis forced the postponement of their game with Cincinnati. While not a big deal under most circumstances, the timing has led to a particularly nasty scheduling snafu for the Redbirds.

They already had one doubleheader scheduled for this weekend, but the limited time remaining in the season forces them to play another. So that’s back-to-back doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, giving the Cards 11 games in nine days without an off-day.
