With Nico Hoerner hitting the injured list this afternoon, the attention turned to David Bote and Eric Sogard as the duo would likely have to pick up more of the slack at second base in Nico’s absence. Bote got the start at third on Wednesday night, and he got the scoring started for the Cubs. Bote launched his fourth homer of the season deep to center, giving the Cubs an early 2-0 lead.
