It was one of those games that felt like the Cubs just might blow. And in the past few years, they would have. On Tuesday night, however, they pulled out a gritty win.
Shota Imanaga was sharp but surrendered a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th to Manny Machado following two (yes, two!) errors on pop-ups that would’ve ended his at-bat. The Cubs bounced right back in the top of the 6th when Dansby Swanson scored on a bunt by Pete Crow-Armstrong.
The game went into extras, where the Cubs prevailed.
