Brett Anderson was a somewhat surprising signing back in January 2017 and it was unknown at the time whether he’d slot into the fifth spot in the rotation or move into the bullpen. Fast forward to his first start of the season and he quickly dispelled any doubts about whether he belongs in the starting rotation or not.
Anderson mixed a changeup, slider, and curve effectively with his fastball and sinker in just the right combination, not throwing any one pitch more than 32% of the time. He finally gave up a run in the 6th inning just before being pulled by Joe Maddon.
