The Cubs had already scored a handful of runs when Addison Russell came up as the eighth batter in the 7th inning. He immediately found himself in an 0-2 hole when Erik Goeddell threw a changeup that faded right into the barrel of Russell’s bat.
Five outs earlier, the Cubs were down 3-1. As Russell touched the plate, they were up 10-3.
