Do you remember where you were when you first heard, or saw, that rookie Kerry Wood had struck out 20 batters to tie the MLB record for most strikeouts in a game? I watched that game and remember thinking how set the Cubs were for the future. That didn’t quite translate into World Series titles, but it was still a fun time to be a Cubs fan. Of course, when is it not fun to be a Cubs fan?
Arguably the most dominating pitching performance in MLB history, Wood threw 84 of 122 pitches for strikes while allowing only one hit and no walks.
