When you’re talking about the future on the North Side of Chicago, it’s all about October. But what Mike Montgomery is doing on the mound may get some excited for what’s to come ever further down the line.
In Thursday night’s 5-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, Montgomery worked six innings, giving up just three runs (one earned) on three hits while walking one and striking out seven.
It looked as though the Cubs failed to add a cost-controlled starter to their team at the deadline, but Montgomery is attempting to prove those people wrong. His manager Joe Maddon sounds like he’s a believer.
