LOS ANGELES -- In his first two at-bats Wednesday night, Anthony Rizzo struck out, and it didn't look particularly close to make contact against Dodgers rookie Julio Urias. It was a continuation of a common theme.
But before his third at-bat, without saying a word, he made a change and grabbed Matt Szczur’s bat.
With the help of a teammate, Rizzo hit a solo homer and later added a two-run single, ending an October skid that had erased the memory of an MVP-caliber season, and helping push the Cubs to a 10-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers that evened the National League Championship Series at 2-2.
