Today in Cubs history: The Cubs blow a big lead, but Mark Grace walks it off...

The 1998 Cubs were a trip of a team.

They meandered around second place for much of July, but a 14-14 August took them out of contention for the NL Central title, later won by the Astros.

But the team stayed in wild-card contention, back when there was only one of those, and entering a three-game series against the Brewers at Wrigley Field on the second weekend of September, they were tied for that wild-card spot with the Mets at 82-65.

They lost the first game of that set to a mediocre Brewers team 13-11, blowing an early 3-0 lead.
