The Cubs split six games over the last week, both against teams contending for postseason spots. They looked particularly good in winning the last two games against the Royals in Kansas City, and hopefully that winning will continue in Cincinnati.
But the big stories of the Cubs’ week were two trades made in advance of Tuesday’s MLB trade deadline. And so, I am giving a “three up” spot to someone who’s not a player.
Three up
Jed Hoyer made some trades of consequence
In the two Cubs deals Hoyer has completed thus far, he’s sent Christopher Morel and four minor leaguers away and in return, has acquired righthanded reliever Nate Pearson and third baseman Isaac Paredes, both of whom will slot right into roles for the MLB team.
