This time, Kris Bryant’s aggressive baserunning pays off

Kris Bryant’s sore pinky finger wasn’t exactly top of mind as he took swings in the batting cage before Saturday’s game against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

“I feel bad because everybody has to wait for the lineup, when you don’t know if you can play,” he said. “So that was more of me being upset. But no, I was ready to go.”

The lineup may have been a little late, but Bryant was one of several Cubs to show up with some timely hitting in the eighth inning of the Cubs’ 3-2 win, which provided a bit of baseball justice for starter Jon Lester, who took a perfect game into the sixth inning.
