CLEVELAND -- While his front office co-workers were prepared in disposable T-shirts, shorts and rubber sandals, Theo Epstein was still clad in a dark suit and a white dress shirt early Thursday morning as a maelstrom of alcohol sprayed from every direction in the visitors clubhouse at Progressive Field.
Epstein was drenched in Champagne, beer, sweat and tears and the suit should be en route to the Baseball Hall of Fame, where Epstein himself will be inducted one day.
Epstein wasn’t the hero of the Cubs’ 8-7 win in Game 7 of the World Series, but he, along with his front office, was the brains behind its creation.
