The Cubs and Reds split the first two games of their series and Chicago was so overjoyed with what Ryan Pace and the Bears in the NFL Draft did this weekend hardly anybody noticed. It’s hard to get a read on the Cubs now that we are one full month into the season, but I suppose as each day passes it looks more and more like dueling pianos:

  1. A small glimpse into the future thanks to promising starts by Nico Hoerner and Adbert Alzolay; and
  2. A wistful victory lap for pending free agents Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Javier Báez.
