The ring’s the thing: Cubs ready to get their World Series jewelry

Asking a Cubs player if they’re excited about getting a World Series ring is like asking a sportswriter if they’re into a late-serving bar near the ballpark.

You know your answer before you ask the question. So yes, two nights after raising the World Series banner at Wrigley Field, the Cubs are thrilled to get their rings before Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers.

“The reaction when all of us see the rings for the first time is going to be pretty cool,” Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo said.

The ring is the ultimate symbol of success in sports and the more diamonds and garishness, the better.
