We interrupt this captivating and enjoyable baseball season to bring you back to earth – there is no greater dose of reality and life’s frailty than the death of a young person. When that person is an athlete, or has celebrity, it seems to loom larger, but really all it is doing is bringing to mind the simple fact that life is much, much bigger than baseball or sports or blogs or anything else. All of those things make up life – pieces of it, anyway, but there is no greater example of the sum being so much greater than the parts.
