The Cubs won for the sixth time in as many games Monday with an impressive 2-0 victory over the Dodgers. Travis Wood and the backend of the Cubs bullpen stepped up when Jason Hammel was forced to leave the game before the third inning with cramping his right hamstring.
Wood was called on to pitch and he admitted after the game he was sitting on a couch in the clubhouse when he heard Hammel was hurt. Wood initially thought Trevor Cahill was going in for Hammel
Wood retired all 12 batters he faced over four perfect innings.
