The Cubs took two of three games from the San Francisco Giants earlier this week for their first series win since they swept the White Sox in a two-game set June 4-5. It’s been a rough road for the team since May began. Injury after injury has fallen upon an already beleaguered bullpen and the offense has struggled to get going in a sustained way. However, one particular area of the lineup has stood out amongst a sea of struggling hitters: the offensive output at catcher.
The Cubs made a conscious decision to sacrifice offense behind the dish when they moved on from Willson Contreras two seasons ago.
