The Cubs may not be signing anybody, but that's not stopping Joe Maddon from hitting the free agent recruiting trail

The Cubs are frustrating their fans with cries of a budget crunch and a shockingly quiet offseason, but that's not stopping manager Joe Maddon from hitting the free agent recruiting trail...

...for another team. An NFL team, at that.

(I would apologize for duping everybody with the headline but honestly, I'm not sorry.)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just hired Bruce Arians to be their new head coach thanks in part to an assist from Maddon, who still has a home in Tampa and spends a lot of time there in the offseason.

In fact, the Bucs actually used Maddon's restaurant, Ava, to sell Arians and Maddon was there to help facilitate the deal, bringing the football coach in through the kitchen and educating Arians on life in Tampa Bay.
