The Cubs won't go so far as to publicly admit they were actually praying for a rainout, but the end result certainly works in their favor.
After nearly 2.5 hours of rain delay Thursday night in Atlanta, the game was postponed due to the relentless preciptation.
That now means the Cubs are not in the midst of an 11-games-in-10-days stretch and they should be able to get by in Saturday's doubleheader against the Reds without needing to call up top prospect Adbert Alzolay or moving Mike Montgomery from the bullpen.
The Cubs starters will most likely just get pushed back a day, with Jon Lester going Friday in the series opener in Cincinnati with Kyle Hendricks and Jose Quintana ready on extra (or regular) rest for Saturday's doubleheader.
