CHICAGO – After a nail-biter on Friday afternoon, Saturday evening’s Cubs-Yankees matchup was all but called after the first half inning. The Cubs found themselves in an almost-immediate 5-0 hole – they’ve now given up 40 first-inning runs on the season – and never really made much of a game of it. Some hard decisions were made prior to the game – outfielder Matt Szczur was designated for assignment to add another arm to a beleaguered bullpen – and after a disastrous start from Brett Anderson and relievers working 8 2/3 innings, more moves are certain to come on Sunday.
