Over the last two seasons, the Cubs bullpen has donned by some familiar names like Craig Kimbrel, Jeremy Jeffress, Pedro Strop, Steve Cishek, Brandon Kintzler and Mike Montgomery. But one of the secrets of the Cubs’ success from their relievers has been the ability to find different arms to fill in the gaps.
Two of their biggest successes have been right-hander Rowan Wick and left-hander Brad Wieck. The Cubs acquired Wick from the Padres during the 2018-’19 offseason and Wieck also coming from San Diego at the ‘19 trade deadline.
While both have gotten big outs for the Cubs over the last two seasons, neither were players whose acquisitions made a lot of noise at the time, and as the Cubs build their bullpen for 2021, they’re hoping to do the same.
