Strained hamstring puts Russell out of NLCS

Cubs shortstop Addison Russell will miss the entire National League Championship Series because of what manager Joe Maddon called a moderate hamstring strain in his left leg.

Russell was injured while running out a triple in the fourth inning of Monday's 8-6 win over the Cardinals in Game 3 of the Division Series. The Cubs won the best-of-five series with a 6-4 win on Tuesday and are waiting to face the winner of the Dodgers-Mets NLDS beginning Saturday (Game 1, 7:30 p.m. ET, TBS).
