Shut up, Opening Day Eve is totally a thing. Anyway, the South Bend Cubs named pitcher Preston Morrison as their starter for Thursday’s Opening Night game versus the West Michigan Whitecaps . Morrison is a 22 year old righty from Waxhaw, North Carolina. The 6’ 2”, 185 pounder was an 8th round draft pick in 2015 out of Texas Christian University.
After a month of contract negotiations, Morrison was signed on July 10, 2015, assigned to the Eugene Emeralds on July 11 and pitched in relief the next day.
