On Tuesday, May 12, the South Bend Cubs participated in a fundraising promotion called Tip-a-Cub at Applebees locations around South Bend. I’ve had this date marked on my calendar for weeks. Food? Plus Cubs players? Sign me up! The premise is pretty straightforward: patrons come in for dinner, Cubs players “serve” them and all tips go to Memorial Children’s Hospital. The players paired their fundraising efforts with a trip to the hospital where they visited young patients.
