After falling short on free agent pitcher Tyson Ross, the Cubs have gone in another directions to help build depth in their starting rotation. The Athletic has learned that the Cubs have signed left-handed starting pitcher Brett Anderson to a one-year deal, pending a physical. Ken Rosenthal was the first to report the deal. The Cubs have yet to confirm the signing.

Anderson wasn’t shy about the move, tweeting that he was flying to Chicago and immediately following team-related accounts before Rosenthal’s tweet.
