CHICAGO -- St. Louis' Matt Carpenter didn't hit a home run on Sunday but Kyle Schwarber did, launching a tie-breaking solo shot in the sixth inning to back Jose Quintana and power the Cubs to a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
Willson Contreras drove in two runs with a pair of RBI singles to help the Cubs take the five-game series, 3-2. These two teams will meet again next weekend at Busch Stadium with the Cardinals leading the season series, 7-6.
Quintana threw 121 pitches, matching his career high, which he also did April 13, 2014, against the Indians.
