There has been a rash of pitching injuries so far this year in MLB. Fortunately, the Cubs have been (mostly) immune to those. Justin Steele is out for a while, but that was an injury suffered covering a base and isn’t arm-related. Julian Merryweather is out until at least June with shoulder problems.
More concerning are some of the elbow injuries that seem to happen fairly often, and to prominent pitchers. Atlanta’s Spencer Strider is out for the year. Gerrit Cole of the Yankees will also miss significant time this year.
Some have blamed the pitch timer.
