CHICAGO -- Former Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa once again fell well short of making the Hall of Fame but garnered just enough votes (7 percent) to remain on the ballot next year. Players who receive less than 5 percent of the 440 total votes cast are removed from the ballot permanently.
Sosa has hovered around 7 percent since earning 12.5 percent in his first year of eligibility in 2013. He had 7.2 percent in 2014 and 6.6 last year. Sosa earned the least amount of votes of players who survived the cut. Players need to appear on 75 percent of ballots to make the Hall of Fame.
