Real Prospects Don’t Stop is a weekly column focusing on Chicago prospects. It is named for a Young Thug verse from the song Digits.
In the first rounds of the 2013 and 2014 amateur drafts, the Cubs selected two polished college hitters in Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber, each of whom advanced quickly through the minors. Bryant is now in a heated MVP chase and Schwarber looked like a hitting phenom before going down with a knee injury in the third game of the 2016 season.
The Cubs selected University of Cincinnati outfielder Ian Happ ninth overall in 2015, furthering their trend for taking advanced college hitters with their first pick of the draft.
