The Blue Jackets trimmed seven more players from their roster today, leaving 28 in camp with nine days to go before the 2017-18 regular-season opener.
Forwards Justin Scott, Nick Moutrey and Calvin Thurkauf, and defenseman Dean Kukan, were sent to minor-league Cleveland, which opens training camp on Thursday.
Vitaly Abramov, one of the Jackets’ top forward prospects, was returned to his junior club in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. (More on this in a bit.)
Forward John Mitchell and defenseman Brady Austin were released from player-tryout agreements.
Mitchell’s release this early was a bit of a surprise, given how shallow the Blue Jackets roster is at center ice.
