WHY I LOVE JOE – Yesterday saw Willson Contreras playing LF. Earlier in the week we saw him playing first base. This is the “catcher of the future”, just like Kris Bryant is the “third baseman of the future”, yet we have seen Joe Maddon move these guys around to get them versatility. It’s a big reason why this team is so deep and able to withstand injuries. Guys get thrown in there and it keeps them on their toes. I like that it’s crept up to the Majors, because it’s been percolating in the Minors since this new regime took over.
