Potato chips. It’s not just a salty treat to snack on while watching the Cubs, it may actually help the team win.
In his last start before the All-Star break, Jason Hammel was cruising through five innings of work, allowing just two runs on three hits. But then two pitches into the fifth, his hand started cramping up and two more balls later he left the game. But now Hammel has found his potato chip panacea.
“Doc called me over the break and told me again today: Potato chips,” Hammel said after Saturday’s 3-1 victory over the Texas Rangers.
