On this date: Carlos Zambrano no hits the Astros…in Milwaukee

Both the Cubs and the Bears spent last weekend in Houston facing off against the Astros and Texans, respectively. It worked out fairly well for the Cubs, while the Bears left with a season-opening loss.

Eight years ago yesterday, the Cubs were likewise scheduled to play in Houston, but Hurricane Ike, which made landfall that morning, forced Major League Baseball to reschedule the entire two-game series for the following two days in Milwaukee, at the Brewers’ home stadium, Miller Park.

The location was convenient for the Cubs and their fans, given that the Cubs were scheduled to begin a three-game road series with the Brewers later that week.
